Exploit the e-Government potential e-Government can carry many rewards, but the risks associated with plunging into uncharted e-Government waters are large. Moving interactions to digital platforms raises issues related to all units within a public sector entity and around it: businesses, citizens, NGOs and other public sector entities.
Public sector executives and managers are challenged here because traditional communication channels are disrupted and transformed. Integration and Interoperability are key aspects here, apart from the implementation of an appropriate e-Government architecture. One of the most interesting challenges is how to involve, engage the different stakeholders. Adoption of social media plays an essential role here.
In the end the fundamental question that arises is how the structure, processes and people’s roles in the public sector entities, and the ones around it, are affected or (to be) changed.
The EG program provides you with a thorough understanding of technology, organizational, management, strategy and policy issues associated with e-Government. You will develop the relevant analytical skills as well as the leadership and change management skills required to exploit the e-Government potential.
What to expect? Through interactive lectures and class discussions your will learn about the factors for success in e-Government, and about the frameworks to be adopted in this context. Sharing of participants’ experiences is present in all sessions and forms a key element in the learning. Work visits and guest speaker sessions will provide deeper insights, as they will highlight the best practices for e-Government associated systems and projects. Next, through several workshops and live case sessions you will further develop your personal skills as a hybrid change agent for e-Government. Finally, a home action project, its presentation and plenary discussion will assure that your learning will be helpful to your organization.
